Halle Bailey teared up watching the first footage from 'The Little Mermaid'

Bailey described the feeling of seeing herself for the first time as Ariel revealing in an interview with Extra, “It’s very just surreal because, you know… of course, there’s all this post-production that’s happening… And so I think I went in for some ADR and, you know, it was just very surreal to seeing yourself that way.”

Bailey went on to reveal that she cried after seeing the footage adding, “I get really emotional, and I was trying to hold it in, and then after I was driving home in the car, I just was, like, crying. It just doesn’t really hit me until certain moments… We still have a long time to wait, but I’m just very grateful for that opportunity in my life.”

Her co-star praises her performance as well.

Javier Bardem, who will play King Triton in the upcoming film has praised Bailey’s singing saying her voice is “out of this world.” Bailey commented on her costar praising her saying:

“I love Javier so much. You know, he made me feel so safe and so protected, and he was just so encouraging the whole time.”

Bailey also said she is excited for fans to finally see the film especially the performance of ‘Part of your World’ saying, “I’m so excited for people to see… [the] honoring of the original that we’re doing, but also kind of my own little twist to it.”

The Little Mermaid is slotted for a May 2023 release, and we cant wait to see the finished product and all the hard work Halle Bailey has ut into her performance as Ariel.
