Roland Emmerich’s latest disaster action film Moonfall finds Halle Berry with the clues to saving humanity from a collision course with the moon.

Written by Emmerich, Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen and produced by Emmerich and Kloser, Moonfall stars Berry as a NASA exec and former astronaut who knows how to save the planet from what she thinks is our moon, which has been knocked off its orbit and is headed straight for Earth. But she also discovers that the moon has a mystery of its own. As the official description states:

“In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award® winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, “Midway”) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley, “Game of Thrones”) believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.”

Shadow and Act reported Berry’s casting in 2020. Joining her are Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland.

Moonfall is expected to come to theaters via Lionsgate on Feb. 4, 2022.

Berry can be seen next in Bruised, in which Berry plays Jackie Justice, a “disgraced MMA fighter” who is reuinted with her stranged son Manny and must “conquer her demons, face one of the fiercest rising stars of the MMA world and ultimately fight to become the mother this kid deserves.” The film will debut on Netflix Nov. 24.
