Halle Berry has launched a new production with producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas called 606 Films, which will be housed at CBS Television Studios, and is named for the anti-paparazzi bill that Berry pushed, which California Gov. Jerry Brown signed it into law last fall.
The goal of 606 Films will be to produce “socially conscious” work, in the spirit of the company’s name.
606 Films will be run by Kathryn Tyus-Adair, acting as SVP – a veteran who once headed TV and film projects at Don Cheadle’s Crescendo Productions, worked as a development exec for Robert Redford, Curtis Hanson and George Tillman Jr on other individual projects, including films like The Horse Whisperer, A Civil Action, Barbershop, and TV series like Showtime’s Soul Food.
The new company emerged from Halle Berry’s attachment to the upcoming CBS sci-drama series, which she’ll star in, titled Extant. She’s also acting as co-executive producer.
