HBO Max has nabbed the rights to five iconic Black comedies from Warner Bros. Television. The series include Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show,, The Parent ‘Hood, In The House and Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper. The announcement was made today and all five are available immediately.
This move follows Netflix acquiring the rights to 7 iconic Black comedies last year.
Additionally, the second season of Warner Bros. Television’s David Makes Man has also been acquired by HBO Max. The season aired on OWN earlier this year.

'Hangin' With Mr. Cooper'
Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper follows Mark Cooper (Mark Curry), “the former college basketball superstar and ultimate prankster, who also happens to be the coolest substitute teacher around. He’s charming, funny, playful and athletic — a really great guy…and he’ll be the first to tell you so! Just out of school and on his own for the first time, Mark finds himself sharing a house with two beautiful women.”
'In the House'
In In the House, “can a former pro-football player and a newly divorced mother with two children live together when they don’t even know each other?” Executive produced by Quuincy Jones, the series starred LL Cool J, Debbie Allen, Lisa Arrindell Anderson, Kim Wayans, Maia Campbell, Jeffery Wood, Dee Jay Daniels and Alfonso Ribeiro.
'The Jamie Foxx Show'
Jamie Foxx stars as an entertainer hitting his stride both musically and romantically in the comedy series also starring Garcelle Beauvais, Christopher B. Duncan, Ellia English, Garrett Morris, Andy Berman.
'Martin'
Martin Lawrence stars as plays Martin Payne, “a radio talk show host popular with his listeners because of his brash on-air style and personality. Off the air, however, he has a nurturing, caring relationship with young executive Gina (Tisha Campbell). Always around are Martin’s friends Tommy Cole, and Gina’s co-worker Pam.” Tichina Arnold, Thomas Mikal Ford, Carl Anthony Payne, Jonathan Gries, Garrett Morris and Angelina Estrada also star.
'The Parent 'Hood'
Robert Townsend and Suzzanne Douglas star as “parents desperately trying to keep up with their high-spirited children and the ever-changing realities of modern-day family life.” Carol Woods, Kenny Blank, Reagan Gomez-Preston, Curtis Williams, Ashli Adams, Bobby McGee, Tyrone Dorzell Burton, Faizon Love and Kelly Perine also star.
