"J. Cole: 4 Your Eyez Only, A Dreamville Film", the Grammy-nominated star's second HBO special, debuts Saturday, April 15 at 10pm.
In the spirit of his previous outing, this exclusive presentation is a multi-narrative show that combines music performances (from his fourth album) with intimate interviews documented through Cole's lens, as well as revealing footage containing the heartfelt confessions, concerns and struggles of people in the South. Traveling through different cities gathering interviews, Cole reveals the challenges lower-income residents face trying to obtain viable housing, as well as the frustration for felons of being barred from voting.
Providing a platform for subjects who feel their stories have not been heard, Cole captures these stories in Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Ferguson, Mo., Cole's hometown of Fayetteville, NC and his father's hometown of Jonesboro, Ark., where he focuses on how this small town so closely resembles the rest of the country in its struggles with integration.
J. Cole's first HBO special, "J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming," debuted in Jan. 2016.
"J. Cole: 4 Your Eyez Only, A Dreamville Film" is executive produced by Jermaine Cole, Ibrahim Hamad, Adam Roy Rodney; producer, Tim Grant; co-directors, J. Cole and Scott Lazer.
