Disney Channel is honoring the late, great creative Eunetta T. Boone. Her last gig was being the showrunner of the network’s comedy series, Raven’s Home.

The Eunetta T. Boone Comedy Writer’s Scholarship was announced Monday. The network says, “In memory of the trailblazing writer and producer, the scholarship will provide dedicated funds to hire emerging and diverse writers who are pursuing careers in comedy writing for television,” said Nancy Kanter, executive vice president, Content and Creative Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide.

“Eunetta loved the craft of writing, she was proud of her art both as a reflection of our world and as a way to shape culture. She had a keen appreciation of true talent and mentored many young diverse voices throughout her career. As a showrunner, she was also an inspiring leader who steered sitcoms with tremendous wit and wisdom. We miss her and are proud to begin this scholarship that will carry on her legacy of encouraging future generations of writers.”

In her storied career, she had written for The Fresh Prince of Bel-AirThe Parent ‘HoodLiving SingleThe Hughleys and My Wife and Kids. She also acted as co-producer for Living Single, supervising producer for The Parent ‘Hood, co-executive producer for The Hughleys and My Wife and Kids and executive producer on the Kyla Pratt-led series One on One (which she created) and the show’s spinoff, Cuts. She also wrote the script for a movie on legendary jewel thief Doris Payne, which has Tessa Thompon attached to star. No word on the status of that project.
