Heidi Klum has said that she has been at the center of racial vitriol since making comments that seemed to negate Gabrielle Union’s claims about racist and sexist treatment at America’s Got Talent

“A lot of people got mad at me. I was called, for example, ‘a white woman,'” she said to Page Six at the amfAR gala on Wednesday. “I think it is important for everyone to speak their truth. I think that when there is a story, it should be told. I had a different story…I can only speak to what I saw–it has nothing to do with what color I am. I am human so I just looked at what I saw.”

Being called a “white woman” isn’t a racial epithet, so how this is distressing to Klum is hard to understand. Regardless, Klum’s prior statements seemed to negate the concerns Union claimed against AGT.

As Page Six reports, Klum said in January at the Television Critics Association that she “only had an amazing experience” on the show. “I can’t speak for Gabrielle. I didn’t experience the same thing. To me, everyone treats you with the utmost respect.”

Klum isn’t the only person who has been clowned by social media for not understanding Union’s claims. Recently, fellow AGT host Terry Crews was lambasted for a January Today interview that seemed to also negate Union’s claims against the show.
