The 2019 BET Award Nominations include several of last year’s best films: BlacKkKlansmanCreed IIIf Beale Street Could TalkSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Hate U Give. Though controversial white savior film Green Book didn’t garner a nomination from the BET Awards, Mahershala Ali picked up a Best Actor nomination for his much debated role as Dr. Donald Shirley in the film, alongside Anthony Anderson (black-ish), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Omari Hardwick (Power), Denzel Washington (The Equalizer 2), and Michael B. Jordan (Creed II).

BET’s other film and television nominations include Issa Rae, Regina Hall, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Tiffany Haddish and Viola Davis for Best Actress and Marsai Martin, Miles Brown, Lyric Ross, Caleb McLaughlin, Michael Rainey Jr.
