This week, Geeks Worldwide posted an unverified report that Tessa Thompson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Logan Browning and Alexandra Shipp are allegedly on a shortlist for playing Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. On the heels of that news, Browning, one of our S&A RISING Award recipients for 2018, has started her campaign for the role.

Browning posted a rendering made by @theimaginativehobbyist of herself in the Catwoman costume with her message about the role.

“I don’t have too much pride to say I want this and to post it–even if this is definitely breaking the ‘rulebook,'” she said. “The internet made this art (@theimaginativehobbyist), and ran with the idea rumored of me as the Catwoman to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in a way that made me feel like I already had it. No one is actually calling me about it, so I’m gonna play fan fiction with the Internet and live this out as long as I can or until someone actually gives me a chance. hi Matt Reeves.”

So far, the film’s casting includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. Jonah Hill is rumored to play to the Penguin or the Riddler. Jeffrey Wright is rumored to play Commissioner Gordon. The film is expected to be released in 2021.
