Lupita Nyong’o’s dual performance as Adelaide Wilson and her doppelganger Red in Jordan Peele’s acclaimed sophomore effort Us has been the subject of rave reviews. Her performance has even been shortlisted as a contender for the Academy Award for Best Actress at the 2020 Oscar’s by various publications. Now, it appears that Nyong’o may be open to reprising her iconic characters.

In an interview with IndieWire, the Academy Award-winning actress revealed that she hasn’t necessarily closed the door on reprising her role in an Us sequel.

“Well, never say never, because the minute you say ‘no,’ that’s exactly what’s going to happen,” she said. “So maybe I’ll say, absolutely, yeah, just so that karma doesn’t come to bite me in the butt.”

Nyong’o, who won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave, also praised director Jordan Peele during the interview.

“Ultimately, I really do love the work we created together, and how imaginative it is,” Nyong’o said. “Obviously, I’m in love with Jordan’s mind and the work that comes out of it. And in this case, that includes the role that he bestowed on me.”
