Cardi B is about to get her theatrical shine on with her first role in the upcoming film Hustlers. Turns out she has Jennifer Lopez to thank for the come-up.

Lopez revealed to SiriusXM Hits 1’s Morning Mash Up that she and Cardi worked on the song “Dinero,” and because of their prior relationship, Lopez called Cardi to offer her the role.

“I called her and asked her if she wanted to do the movie and I explained it to her,” she said, adding how Cardi’s past as a stripper provided her with the knowledge necessary for the part. “She knew so much about this world already,” she said. “It was a thing that hit home for her.”

“I was like, ‘I just think this would be a great thing for you to be involved with,’ and she was like, ‘You know I’ve been really picky’–she’s been asked to do a bunch of movies–‘but I think I have something to offer,'” she said.

Hustlers, also starring Keke Palmer, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Trace Lysette, Madeline Brewer and Mercedes Ruehl, will come to theaters in 2020.
