The trailer for Claire Denis’ trippy and disturbing sci-fi film High Life has been released, showcasing André Benjamin aka André 3000  as Tcherny, one of the several inmates launched into space to undertake suicide missions.

Robert Pattinson stars in the film as Monte, an inmate who is also raising his daughter between space missions. That description doesn’t betray the amount of wild stuff that’s in this movie, which includes body horror, sexual horror and mind-bending effects.

Writer Zadie Smith was originally attached to the project in the development phase but left because of creative differences between her and Denis. The incident led to some interesting comments by Denis, including the phrase that she and Smith “are on the same planet, but not living the same life, for sure.”

High Life, also starring Juliette Binoche, Mia Goth, Gloria Obianyo, Lars Eldinger, Agata Buzek, Claire Tran and Ewan Mitchellcomes to theaters November 7.
