Holiday Music Break - Duke Ellington In "Bundle Of Blues"

nullHere's a terrific musical short for your holiday enjoyment. This is Duke Ellington and his band from the 1933 music short film Bundle of Blues.

Halfway through there's a great performannce by the legendary and sadly now somewhat forgotten Ivie Anderson, who regularly sang with Ellington's band during the 1930's to the early 40's, and who died tragically in 1949, only in her mid-40's, due to severe asthma, singing the classic Stormy Weather.

She made the song a huge hit a full decade before Lena Horne covered it in the 1943 film Stormy Weather which, afterward, became her signature tune. But Anderson had it first. Enjoy!
