MTV gives fans a hit of the How High 2 opening credits, and those credits are lit in all senses of the word! The network also revealed the premiere date for the stoner film–April 20 at 9 p.m. ET. The film will also be available in select retailers a few days earlier, starting April 16.

The credits are animated in a way that evokes the early ’00s, Mad Men and today’s current alternative landscape. The film stars Lil Yachty and D.C. Young Fly as the new leads. NeNe Leakes, Alyssa Goss, DeRay Davis, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Cynthia Bailey, Lil Baby and Justine Skye also star. Even better, Mike Epps is back reprising his role of Baby Powder.”

The little Mad Men touches might seem out of place, but it fits the film’s storyline, since the inspiration is actually derived from the characters’ business venture. According to the official logline, How High 2 is set in Atlanta where two “potrepreneurs” and best friends Roger and (Lil Yachty) and Calvin (D.C. Young Fly) go “on a magical weed-filled journey to fund their on-demand munchies delivery start up.”

Since the film is set in Atlanta, tons of today’s hip hop is featured, including Lil Yachty’s “Forever Young” featuring Diplo, Migos’ “Stir Fry” and the opening credits’ title song, “100 Miles & Running” by Logic featuring Wale and John Lindahl.

How High 2 is produced by MTV and Universal 1440 Entertainment. The film is written by Shawn Ries, Alex Blagg, Neel Shah and Artie Johann and directed by Bruce Leddy. Lil Yachty and Quality Control’s Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “Pee” Thomas are executive producers along with Brian Sher and MTV’s Morgana Rosenberg, Josh Vodnoy and Jason Goldberg. “How High” producer Shauna Garr also returns to the franchise as an executive producer with producer Mike Elliott.

The original How High came out in 2001 starring Method Man and Redman. Even though the rapper duo made the original film famous, they aren’t starring in the How High sequel. According to Redman’s interview on the The Grass Routes Podcast, both he and Method Man weren’t aware of the film and weren’t included in its development.
