It’s official: Hustlers is a hit. And though it isn’t No. 1 at the box office (that belongs to IT: Chapter Two) it is a real winner and set multiple records.

With $33 million in its first weekend, here are some records (all adjusted for inflation) the film set:

-Biggest opening weekend for studio STX Entertainment
-Biggest opening weekend for Jennifer Lopez
-Biggest opening weekend for Constance Wu
-Biggest opening weekend for a movie that features multiple women of color in lead roles (Girls Trip bowed with $31.6 million in 2017)

Directed by Lorene Scafaria, the film is based on a New York Magazine/The Cut article from 2015 titled “The Hustlers at Scores.” It follows “a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.”

The film stars Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Lizzo and Julia Stiles. Mercedes Ruehl, Mette Towley and Trace Lysette co-star.

Our TIFF review of the film reads, “Consisting of the scrappy storytelling qualities of an indie film yet having the crowd-pleasing mentality of blockbusters, Hustlers will hopefully pave the way for investment in these types of narratives that subvert the narratives of sex workers often depicted on screen. It’s no doubt that Hustlers is one of the most fun times you’ll have at the movies all year.”
