While announcing the 2020 Oscar nominees with John Cho, Issa Rae made sure to make time to throw in an ounce of shade!

After the all-male nominees were announced for Best Director, the Insecure star said “Congratulations to these men,” calling back to Keke Palmer’s uber-popular meme about not knowing Dick Cheney.

The nominees for this year are Bong Joon Ho (Parasite), Sam Mendes (1917), Todd Phillips (Joker), Martin Scorsese (The Irishman) and Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).

However, women directed some of the year’s most acclaimed films, including Mati Diop (Atlantics), Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Lulu Wang (The Farewell), Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) and Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), just to name a few.

Only a few Black actors and projects were nominated this year, including Cynthia Erivo for Harriet and Matthew A. Cherry’s Hair Love.
