In case you were still holding out hope on Idris Elba somehow donning the black suit and tie as James Bond, Elba is here to burst your bubble for good.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Elba got an opportunity to speak on the Bond rumors during a Good Morning Britain interview promoting his new film Yardie, Elba’s first turn as director. Elba only needed one word to address the question that has been beaten like a dead horse: Would he ever play Bond? That one word was, of course, “No.”

At this point, social media’s relationship to the Elba-as-Bond rumors seems to have soured, with many people wanting the rumor mill to give the Elba-as-Bond fantasy a rest. It seems like Elba can be counted in that camp, since clearly, he’s keeping his career going with other sure bets, like the upcoming season of Luther and the Fast and the Furious spinoff, Hobbs and Shawrather than adding fuel to the Bond pipe dreams. Also, seeing how drama surrounding the untitled Bond 25 film has been swirling due to director Danny Boyle leaving after citing “creative differences,” it might not be the best time to be attached to a Bond film anyway.

However, it’s not like it wouldn’t be great to see a black person in the role of Bond. A black actor can and should be given a go at the character to keep people like far-right provocateur Kate Hopkins mad and bothered. For instance, we have compiled an entire list of black actresses we think could give the role the female perspective it needs.

Yardie comes to UK theaters August 31.
