Apple TV+ has announced Hijack, a new series starring Idris Elba that will be the first project under his overall deal that his production company Green Door Pictures at the streamer.

Elba will also serve as executive producer on the series.

Here's the official description of 'Hijack':

Told in real time, “Hijack” is a tense, thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

Elba stars as Sam Nelson, “an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing.:

The drama series will be directed by Jim Field Smith and written by 'Lupin' creator and writer George Kay, who will serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Kris Thykier.

Hijack will be produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions alongside Idris Elba’s Green Door Productions.

Elba is currently starring in the blockbuster video game adaptation Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and is preparing to return to his iconic character of Luther for Netflix.
