As I posted 2 weeks ago, a preview screening of From The Rough, the Taraji P. Henson sports drama no distributor nor release date yet), was scheduled to take place at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, today, July 1st – the first commercial, public screening as far as I know.
Taraji was present, as was her co-star LeToya Lucket, and the film’s director, Pierre Bagley (all 3 are pictured in the photo above, along with Essence founder Ed Lewis. A Q&A and panel discussion followed, which Soledad O’Brien moderated.
Did any of our readers attend? And if so, I’d like to know what your thoughts on the film are, now that you’ve seen it. So, if you were there earlier today, hook the rest of us up with your reactions if you can! I’m definitely curious. I’ll also be on the lookout for any reviews posted online.
