In case you missed it last night (I did), here’s South African comedian Trevor Noah’s debut as a new "Daily Show" correspondent.
Born to a white Swiss father and black South African mother, Noah’s mixed-race heritage, including his experiences growing up in a Soweto township, and his observations about race and ethnicity, are frequent themes addressed in his comedy.
He’s said to be the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on "The Tonight Show" and "The David Letterman Show," and was the subject of the 2012 documentary "You Laugh But It’s True." Most recently, he starred in his own Showtime comedy special titled "African American."
Last night, he had some fun with host John Stewart, as they riffed on, broadly, differences between the USA and Africa, although these are the kinds of what I’d call *starter* jokes that I’d expect many of you to already be familiar with. But I’m looking forward to seeing what Mr Noah brings to the show in the future.
