In Case You Haven't Been Paying Attention, Social Media Stars Are Pushing Beyond the Web - Like King Bach

Andrew B. Bachelor, better known by his online alias and persona “King Bach”

He is known for being the most followed person on Vine. And to think he initially enrolled at a film graduate program, but then dropped out and moved to Los Angeles, where he created his exuberant Vine persona, uploading his first Vine video on April 19, 2013.

And in 3 relatively short years, his Vine stardom led to him signing with UTA, and landing a recurring role in House of Lies. In addition, he is also a series regular on the Adult Swim series, “Black Jesus,” and had a recurring role on “The Mindy Project,” a role in the spoof comedy film “Fifty Shades of Black,” and more.

More recently, in 2015 “Key & Peele” announced that they were teaming up to produce a new comedy starring social media celebrity Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor, whose Vine clips are apparently comedy gold.

The untitled new show, which was set up at Fox, was to be loosely based on one of Bachelor’s online personas, and was to follow an undercover cop who goes back to his hometown to take on childhood bullies.

No word on where that project stands.

But “King Bach” is now attached to star in a comedy featured titled “Where’s the Money,” which follows a slacker from South Central L.A. who discovers that, many years before, his father and uncle stole $1 million and hid it in a flop house. Unfortunately, when he heads out to reclaim the cash, it turns out the former tenement is now a USC frat house, forcing him to become a pledge in order to lay his hands on the money.

Joining “King Bach” in the film are Terry Crews, Mike Epps, Method Man, Retta, Caleb Emery, Kat Graham, Josh Brener, Allen Maldonado, Devon Werkheiser, and Logan Paul.

“Tosh.0” director Scott Zabielski is helming the film from a script penned by by Ted Sperling and Benjamin Sutor, based on a story by Sperling and Dylan Sellers.

Sellers is producing alongside Zack Schiller.

The Boies/Schiller Film Group is financing the project.

“With around 16 million followers and over 5 billion loops, this is where we are in 2016 folks; if you’re a creative (or even if you’re not), use social media to showcase your talents, and in the process, build an audience, and, hopefully, eventually, you might find the kind of success that people like “Bach” have in recent years.

Filming is underway on “Where’s the Money.”
