The fourth season of Insecure garnered massive critical acclaim, garnering Emmy nods for Best Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for Issa Rae and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for Yvonne Orji. Now, the cast and crew behind the HBO juggernaut are teasing what’s in store for Season 5.

When the fourth season of Insecure ended, the friendship between Issa and Molly was hanging by a thread. However, in an interview with Variety, Yvonne Orji is teasing what their friendship will look like in the fifth season.

“I feel our relationship is ‘iron sharpens iron’ — I feel like we’re sharpening each other as friends and even frenemies.” Orji also revealed what she would like to see happen for Molly in the midst of her breakup with her boyfriend, Andrew, in last season’s finale.

“We’ve been circling around each other in just getting familiar with the old way of how we used to be. We’re all growing. And change is hard,” she continued, adding, “I would like to see Molly happy, in general, just happy. In love and life, at work, I want her happy. Is that too much to ask?”

Rae added her two cents on Issa and Molly’s friendship, while humorously advising people to wear their masks in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It looks hopefully filming without masks. It looks like hopefully figuring out how to shoot this season,” she says. “Can’t talk about Molly & Issa 3.0 when this virus is still out there, wear your mask, people please — and vote.”
