During Issa Rae’s Insecure Season 4 virtual watch party April 12, Yvonne Orji playfully remarked that she wanted to “hurt” Kerry Washington, who is one of this season’s directors, for pushing her acting chops to the edge.

As The Grio notes, Orji said during an IG live with Issa Rae that in a scene where she was reaching what she thought were her emotional depths, Washington told her, “I don’t believe you!” Washington’s insistence on pushing Orji made her frustrated.

According to the site, Orji alluded to Washington that she could have loosened the reins a bit since “this is still a comedy, it’s bare minimum over here.” To that, Washington replied with, “I’m going to let you know if I don’t feel it.”

Despite getting frustrated, Orji said that Washington’s tough love ultimately made her a better actress. “She pushed me to greatness,” she said, adding that Washington told her, “I want to bring the best out of you.”

Insecure airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. EST on HBO.
