Most of us first learned about rapper and television personality Bow Wow through this music career. In our minds, he never really transitioned completely into the film game.

However, fast forward to today, and what you will see is a man that has conquered the music game, and now he has his sights on Television and film.

Shadow and Act caught up with Bow Wow to chat about his latest film, the military thriller “Allegiance”, and his recent 106 & Park gig.

Shadow and Act: Congrats on the new film. Can you tell us a little about the film you’re your character Chris?

Bow Wow: It’s a film about a lieutenant in the National Guard, who has some serious choices to make. I play specialist Chris Reyes, one of the best medics in the whole unit. He is a father of a child that has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Basically, he is a real stand up guy.

Shadow and Act: How did you prepare for the paramedic portion of the role?

BW: I don’t prepare for my roles. I don’t watch movies to get inspired. I don’t dig deep. I’ll never be that type of actor, and I doubt that I ever will be.

Shadow and Act: So, for this role, they did not have you train with anyone?

BW: Well, on set, I had very little training on how to basically stick a needle in somebody’s arm.  I did train a bit with the actual FDNY.

Shadow and Act: Can you tell us a bit about the set culture for this film? How was it working with this wonderful cast?

BW: The director of this film, Michael Connors, actually witnessed a lot of what you will see in this film. I had a lot of fun working with Seth Gabel, whom I’m sure is a lot of women’s favorite. I had a lot of fun working with Malik Yoba.

Shadow and Act: Can you share with us what you learned about the deployment of our troops from this film?

BW: I did not really know that going AWOL was illegal.

Shadow and Act: Congrats, on your 106 and Park gig. How did you balance shooting the show and this film?

BW: We shot this film about two years ago thank God. I love everything about my position at BET. Taking over 106 is a blessing. My job is to take it to the next level.

Shadow and Act: Why should our viewers watch this film?

We should support films about our troops. The film is a good story, and a good plot. The movie won’t make you happy, but you will learn.

Shadow and Act: What is your career vision?

I’m in a, ‘I can do whatever phase’. I’m taking this 106 & Park opportunity into full force. I’m really focused on doing my best with it. This is my ‘Fresh Prince’ moment. I want to be the black Ryan Seacrest of film, TV, and more.

Allegiance, directed by Michael Connors, opens in LA and Austin tomorrow, January 4, 2012, via XLrator Media.

The film (Connors' feature directorial debut) stars, in addition to Box Wow, Seth GabelMalik YobaAidan Quinn, and Pablo Schreiber.

Here's a synopsis:

After being granted a questionable transfer that will keep him stateside as his National Guard unit deploys for Iraq, Lieutenant Danny Sefton (Gabel) becomes embroiled in a last-minute AWOL attempt by one of his soldiers (Bow Wow) on the eve of deployment — forcing Sefton to choose between his loyalties to the fleeing soldier, his unit and his family.

The film was written, directed, produced and financed almost entirely by veterans.

Also worth noting, former Navy SEALS and Army Green Berets were enlisted to train the actors and extras.

Daryl Freimark and Sean Mullin produced and John Patrick Boyle executive produced the film.
