Billed as a launchpad exclusively for diverse talent, Issa Rae’s ColorCreative.TV is moving beyond the web series space and making a full-fledged push into television.
The platform will premiere three independently produced half-hour comedy pilots at Urbanworld Film Festival on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20, with the eventual goal of bringing all three projects to television.
The pilots are:
A dark comedy following the odd couple relationship of a depressed carpet cleaner who’s forced to do clean up jobs for a no-nonsense hitman. Written by Shawn Boxe and directed by Victoria Mahoney.
"Words With Girls"
A lesbian relationship comedy centered on a group of 20-something, fast-talking, attitude-having LA transplants. Written by Brittani Nichols and directed by Tessa Blake.
A quirky buddy comedy about two best pals navigating love, life and medical marijuana in urban Los Angeles. Written by Syreeta Singleton and directed by Daven Baptiste.

With Urbanworld focusing on the synergy between creativity and the digital space, it only made sense for us to premiere our pilots during the shorts program.”
ColorCreative.TV is the launchpad exclusively for diverse talent. The platform is an initiative that aims to increase opportunities for women and minority TV writers to showcase and sell their work in this underrepresented industry. Using Issa Rae’s existing fanbase and established digital footprint, ColorCreative.TV strives to: discover new talent and stories via national workshops, improve the TV pilot development process and produce and package low cost TV pilots with an indie familiarity.
