Issa Rae Tackles the Policing Issue with New Short Satire '#PROTECTANDSERVE'

Protect and Serve

Here’s a topical piece from Issa Rae Productions, considering the continuing issues with law enforcement and communities of color.

Executive produced by Issa Rae and written and directed by

S&A’s Jai Tiggett, "#PROTECTANDSERVE" is a "short satirical

sketch aimed at widening the discussion on effective policing, through the lens

of a 90-day body camera trial."

Just as we’ve recently seen a new

wave of activism online and in our streets, this 4-minute video raises the

issues in a way that hasn’t been done before, with a tone that’s biting at

times and is ultimately aimed at solutions.

In light of the President’s Task

Force on 21st Century Policing, new developments in the Tamir Rice case, the

recent LAPD shooting and other ongoing issues, this is a timely short that

moves the conversation in a new direction.

On Wednesday March 4, join us in

the conversation online using the hashtags

#WECAN and #PROTECTANDSERVE.

PROTECT AND SERVE is executive

produced by Issa Rae Productions and supported by Blackout for Human Rights.

The project features Issa Rae (The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl), Dijon

Talton (Glee), and Second City actors Robert Vestal, Tamarra Graham, Dwayne

Colbert and Ace Gibson.
