Issa Rae is continuing to add to the “multi-hyphenate” term by writing, producing and starring in the English-language remake of Paolo Genovese’s Italian dramedy Perfetti Sconosciuti or Perfect Strangers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film follows a group of friends who play a high-stakes game at a dinner party. The game: they must place their phones upright on the table and only make calls and texts in public to prove they have no skeletons in their closets. The game, however, makes them realize that they might not know everything about each other in the way that they thought they did.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing this funny and compelling story to a new demographic and could not be happier about partnering with the Spyglass team to make it happen,” said Rae, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I loved the original film and think the story will resonate with audiences here [in the U.S.] as well.”

Along with Rae, the film will be produced with Spyglass Media Group and Eagle Pictures. Montrel McKay of Issa Rae Productions will executive produce. Spyglass’ Chris Stone of Spyglass will also oversee production as well as Tarak Ben Ammar of Eagle.
