It's Official: After The Kevin Hart Controversy, The Oscars Won't Have A Host For First Time In 30 Years

The 2019 Academy Awards won't have a host!

ABC President Karey Burke hinted that during the network's presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, and an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences spokesperson confirmed the news to BuzzFeed.

As opposed to having a host, there will be a flurry of actors presenting, including Whoopi Goldberg, Amandla Stenberg, Brie Larson, Maya Rudolph, Tessa Thompson, Constance Wu, Charlize Theron and Awkwafina.

The last time the Oscars did not have a host was in 1989.

Late last year, after being announced as the 2019 Oscars host, Kevin Hart stepped down from the job after refusing to apologize for homophobic tweets and jokes.
