WATCH: Jada Pinkett Smith Uses ‘Red Table Talk’ To Shelter Jordyn Woods From Kardashians, Misogynoir

On a special edition of Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith brought longtime family friend and former Kardashian bestie Jordyn Woods to the table.

Twenty-one-year-old Woods found herself in hot water when allegations began swirling that she had hooked up with Khloé Kardashian’s boyfriend, notorious cheater Tristan Thompson of NBA fame. Woods and Kardashian’s youngest sister, Kylie Jenner, were best friends who lived together before the “scandal” hit. Since then, Woods has been the target of vile and misogynoiristic violence online (the kind that combines racism and sexism that Black women uniquely face).

But Pinkett Smith and Will Smith pulled an Iyanla and said, “not on my watch!” The couple has known and loved Woods since she was born; they were not about to let some grown-up Kardashian rage permanently harm the young Black woman. Both stars voiced their support for Woods on the show, and Pinkett Smith gave Woods a platform to speak her truth. Woods admitted to letting Thompson kiss her as she was leaving his house party but denied having sex with him.

“It just always seems like it’s so easy to target Black women, put everything on us, even if there’s other people involved,” Pinkett Smith said of the hate Woods has been getting in the media and online and the blame the Kardashians have publicly put on her instead of Thompson.

“I think that’s one of the reasons why Uncle Will felt like it was important for him to hold you through this because we all make mistakes.”

Shortly after the interview was over, Khloé Kardashian took to Twitter to call Woods a liar and explicitly blamed Woods for breaking up her family. But the Smith love shield was too strong; Woods had garnered even more support after the interview with Pinkett Smith, and Kardashian received a full-on viral dragging.

By the weekend, Kardashian had changed her tune, removing blame from Woods and placing it rightfully on Thompson:

Here’s one Black woman that the Kardashian media machine couldn’t destroy. That must be the “mythological power of the table” Smith mentioned.
