Release Date Set for Jamie Foxx Action Thriller 'Sleepless' (Gabrielle Union, T.I. Co-Star) + First-Look Pic

Open Road has announced today that their new action thriller “Sleepless” toplined by Jamie Foxx is set to open early next year, on Feb. 24, 2017.

In the film  Foxx plays undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs, who is caught in a high stakes web of corrupt cops and the mob-controlled casino underground. When a heist goes wrong, a crew of homicidal gangsters kidnap Downs’ teenage son. In one sleepless night, he will have to rescue his son, evade an internal affairs investigation, and bring the kidnappers to justice.

And if that premise sounds vaguely familiar to you, that is because “Sleepless” is an English-language remake of “Sleepness Night,” the 2011 French thriller starring Tomer Sisley and directed by Frederic Jaradin, which features one of the best and most exhausting hand-to-hand fight sequences (set in restaurant kitchen) that you’ll ever see. No doubt the Foxx remake will try to copy that.

“Sleepless” was directed by Swiss directer Baran Bo Odar (check out his website here), who has become a very hot property in Hollywood of late. The script was written by Andrea Berloff.

The film also stars Gabrielle Union, rapper T.I., Dermot Mulroney,  Scoot McNairy and David Harbour. No trailer yet, but expect one soon.
