As you may recall, the film has been in the works for a long time, but this picture is the first tangible evidence that a feature film biopic could finally be underway.

Several years back, Foxx said that the film would be set up at Paramount and directed by Martin Scorcese. Nothing ever surfaced of that. Around the same time, Tyson said that CGI could be used in the film.

Foxx wouldn’t be the first to portray the famous boxer. Michael Jai White has already portrayed him in HBO’s 1995 biopic Tyson. Based on the 1989 book Fire and Fear: The Inside Story of Mike Tyson, by former boxer and former New York State Athletic Commission chairman José Torres, the film debuted in 1995 and tells the highs and lows of Tyson’s career, including his 1992 conviction for the rape of beauty pageant hopeful Desiree Washington.
