Despite their issues in the past, Janet Hubert will always have Will Smith’s back.

The actress, who is best known for playing Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, took to Instagram late Sunday night to celebrate Smith’s very first Oscars win. She also expressed support for the King Richard star after he took a swing at comedian Chris Rock during the televised ceremony.

Janet Hubert says "sometimes you have to slap back."

Janet Hubert began her post by congratulating Will Smith on his much deserved win.

“So PROUD OF YOU!” she captioned a still of Smith giving his acceptance speech.

She then turned her attention over to the slap Smith gave Chris Rock after her joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

“There is only so much one can take… sometimes you have to slap back,” she wrote. “Celebrate the win… nothing else matters. Both actions were incorrect but Chris didn’t need to go there. Met him once… it was enough for me… very mean spirited.”

Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during the Oscars has been the talk of the internet.

In case you missed it, Will Smith and Chris Rock had a pretty heated encounter during the 94th Academy Awards.

While onstage presenting an award, the Fargo actor joked that Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was starring in a G.I. Jane sequel given her shaved head (she was diagnosed with the hair loss condition, alopecia).

“Jada, I love ya. GI Jane 2 — can’t wait to see it,” Rock quipped.

Although Smith laughed at the joke at first, he made his way onto the stage soon after where he slapped the comedian.

The actor then returned to his seat and yelled from the audience, “Keep my wife’s name out your f–king mouth. Keep my wife’s name out your f–king mouth.”

Later on, Smith apologized to the Academy and fellow nominees for the onstage slap.

“This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people,” he said during his acceptance speech. “Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams.”

“I’m being called on in my life to love people, and to protect people, and to be a river to my people,” Smith continued. “I know, to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse. You gotta be able to have pele talk crazy about you. You gotta have people disrespecting people and you gotta smile and you gotta pretend like that’s OK.”
