Surprise! Will Smith has revealed that Janet Hubert will appear on the upcoming 30th anniversary reunion special for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The special will air later this year on HBO Max. This will be the first time Will Smith and Janet Hubert will sit down together in 27 years. The streaming service calls it an emotional and candid conversation.

It was previously announced that Smith and co-stars, including Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro, DJ Jazzy Jeff would be participating. The special was taped recently and will be on HBO Max around Thanksgiving. According to HBO Max, it will be “a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests” looking back on the show and the impact it has had since first debuting.

From Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Media, the special will be directed by Marcus Raboy and executive produced by showrunner Rikki Hughes, Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser and Brad Haugen.

This comes after the recent news that a dramatic reboot of the series, titled Bel-Air, is in the works at Peacock. It has a two-season order at the streaming service. The original series airs exclusively on HBO Max.
