“Will” is an upcoming TNT television series about the (fictional) life of William Shakespeare in his early 20s. In May of this year, the network ordered a 10-episode first season to be broadcast in 2017. The series was originally ordered to series at Pivot, but later canceled before airing, and TNT picked it up.

Laurie Davidson stars as William Shakespeare. Announced today, “The Leftovers” star Jasmin Savoy Brown has been cast as a series regular opposite Davidson, playing Emilia Lanier (born Aemilia Bassano), a musician, poet, writer, and proto-feminist, who is further described as “an exotic and strikingly beautiful young woman… one of the most desired women in all of London, and mistress to the powerful Lord Hunsdon.” She was said to be Shakespeare’s “Dark Lady”of Shakespeare’s sonnets of the same title. Emilia would go on to become the first female professional English poet.

Jasmin Savoy Brown is best known for her roles as Nina on Freeform’s “Stitchers” and Evangeline “Evie” Murphy on HBO’s “The Leftovers.” She’s repped by Kazarian/Measures/Ruskin & Associates and Bright Alliance Media.
