On the latest episode of Shadow And Act’s Facebook Live Q&A series, Locked Down With ____, Insecure star Jay Ellis dropped by to talk about all things Insecure, his character Lawrence and what to look out for this season.

Aside from questions about the HBO series, someone asked Ellis about his dream role. The actor revealed that he has two big ideas.

“I wanna play Arthur Ashe in a biopic,” said the Insecure star. “I think he’s got just an amazing story of how he fought apartheid while he was the No. 1 tennis player in the world and South Africa wouldn’t come let him play down there because he was a Black man. And then ultimately what ended up happening in his life, how he passed, I think it’s such an amazing story.”

The actor also said he’d love to play Bass Reeves. “There’s this cat named Bass Reeves that I’ve always wanted to play. Bass Reeves was the real inspiration for the Lone Ranger. He was the baddest man in this country for like 30 years. People were terrified of this dude. An amazing, amazing story.” An indie film, Hell on the Border, features Reeves and was released last year. Also, you may recall at one point, Morgan Freeman was working on a Bass Reeves miniseries at HBO a few years ago. If Beale Street Could Talk star Colman Domingo also portrayed Reeves in a 2017 episode of the NBC series, Timeless.

Insecure airs Sunday nights on HBO.
