Jaz Sinclair To Co-Star In Netflix's Sabrina-Themed 'Riverdale' Spinoff

Jaz Sinclair has been tapped as one of the leads in Netflix’s upcoming, untitled Riverdale spinoff, which will be a series adaptation of the graphic novel The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina.

A horror take on the classic Archie comic, the series, which already has a two-season order, will imagine “the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature – half-witch, half-mortal – while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.” Kiernan Shipka leads the series in the titular role.”

Sinclair will play Rosalind Walker, described as “the brash, empowered and outspoken daughter of Greendale’s minister and Sabrina’s (Shipka) best friend at Baxter High.”

The actress, who starred in the film When the Bough Breaks, will also star in actor Aml Ameen’s directorial debut, A Night Worth Living.

Originally set up at The CW as a companion series to Riverdale, Netflix ordered the series, where Deadline initially reported that it received a better offer and would allow its production company, Warner Bros. Television, to have full ownership.

Sinclair may joined by other actors of color as Sabrina’s aunts, Zelda and Hilda are being cast open to all ethnicities, and her cousin Ambrose will be cast as “black or East Indian.”

THR first reported the news of Sinclair’s casting.
