'Jeen-Yuhs' Directors Coodie And Chike To Helm Doc Film On The McDonald's All American Game

jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy co-directors Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah are working on a new documentary about the iconic McDonald's All American Game, which has been the pinnacle of high school basketball for decades.

The documentary is being produced jointly by Simmons and Ozah’s production company Creative Control, Roc Nation, and Known Studios. The working title for the film is The All Americans: The Games That Changed The Game, and it will tell the story of the All American Games from its inception to the present day and how the event changed sports.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke this news.

Founded in 1977, the annual game showcases the top 48 boys and girls high school basketball players in the country and has featured some of the biggest names to ever play the game of basketball.

The competition has featured future NBA stars like Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, Grant Hill, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.  The McDonald’s All-Americans game serves as a showcase for the best high school players before they play in college and the pros.

Lori York, executive vp of TV and film at Roc Nation, said of the doc in a statement, “For 45 years, Mcdonald’s All American Game has provided extraordinary young men and women an opportunity to play on a National stage, while also enforcing the importance of giving back. The McDonald’s All Americans are not just leading scorers in the NBA and WNBA, they are also dedicated philanthropists.”

Ross Martin, Mark Feldstein, and Brad Roth of Known Studios, who also co-executive produced jeen yuhs , will serve as executive producers on the doc along with Roc Nation.

Production on the documentary has started and will feature coverage of the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Games that take place next week in Chicago.
