Beals will join the second season as the wife of Mykelti Williamson’s Preston Webb. According to Deadline, Webb was introduced last season as the next big bad Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) must take down. Webb is the head of the lucrative Mercy Corporation, but he is also a kingpin, much like how Dylan McDermott’s Richard Wheatley was a philanthropic businessman while also taking over as the head of his father’s mafia organization.

The first season of Organized Crime took on the topical Black Lives Matter conversation by including Wheatley’s interracial relationships (with characters played by Tamara Taylor and Shauna Harley) and his adult children (Nick Creegan and Christina Marie Karis), who are now facing racism from their grandfather’s side of the family, especially when it comes to taking over the family business. Stabler was also given a Black female partner, Sgt. Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), in which conversations about being a Black female in law enforcement were given a bit of weight. With Williamson, it seems like the focus on Blackness on either side of the law continues.

Currently, Beals plays Madam Garsa, the head of a casino-slash-pleasure palace, on Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett.

She also serves as the executive producer of The L Word: Generation Q on Showtime. Beals is also set for the Netflix film, Luckiest Girl Alive.
