Jerrod Carmichael To Host 2023 Golden Globe Awards

The 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Jerrod Carmichael. The news was announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Dick Clark productions, and NBC. The critically-acclaimed comedian will host the show’s return next month on NBC.

Carmichael returns to NBC, where he created and starred in three seasons of The Carmichael Show from 2015 to 2017.

“We’re so excited to have Jerrod Carmichael host the historic 80th Golden Globe Awards,” HFPA president Helen Hoehne said in a statement. “His comedic talents have entertained and thrilled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live. Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show calls for to kick off the awards season.”

“Jerrod is a phenomenal talent with a fresh perspective and excellent comedic style,” said Jesse Collins, executive producer and CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment. “We’re all thrilled to have him host this year’s show.”

Carmichael also recently hosted NBC’s Saturday Night Live after the release of his critically acclaimed and deeply personal comedy special Rothaniel earlier this year.

He received an Emmy nomination this year for his SNL hosting job and won the award for his incredible HBO Max comedy special Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel.

This will be the show’s first televised ceremony since receiving scrutiny of the past couple of years and allegations.
