There are some people on the Internet who have made it their mission to shame J.K. Rowling for the casting choice of Hermione in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
She’s having none of it.
Last year, the author made it very clear what was canon (officially part of the story universe) when it comes to the beloved character Hermione Granger.
Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione 😘 https://t.co/5fKX4InjTH

However, critics have an inability to accept the fact that their favorite character in the Harry Potter universe could ever not look like them. Rowling gave an interview recently making it abundantly clear that she is not with the bs and to shut down the judgement of nuances in a world created by her imagination.
She said, “I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ – that is, lost colour from her face after a shock – that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with. But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.”
Dear racist trolls on the web,
#BlackGirlMagic Hermione is here to stay. The people approve. JK Rowling approves. There’s nothing you can do about it. The amazingly well-done fan art has already started to roll in.
