After working together on the critically-lauded Underground (which was canceled by WGN and hasn’t been picked up yet), John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co. and Sony Pictures are going into business together officially, with a first-look deal. Lifted was founded by Legend with Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius.

“We’re so excited to be working with Sony. We got to know Sony really well working with them on Underground and are excited to build upon that relationship moving forward. Additionally Lezlie’s promotion is well deserved as she’s proven herself to be an invaluable member of our team. We can’t wait to watch her excel in her new role,” Jackson told Deadline, who reported the news.

According to the report, they are “gearing up to get some new, undisclosed projects out to market.”

Get Lifted recently produced the Oscar-nominated La La Land and the youthful Barack & Michelle Obama-centered Southside With You. In development right now is Tom Reiss’ biography, The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, And The Real Count Of Monte Cristo
