John Ridley is seemingly suddenly a creative in demand (post his Oscar win for scripting "12 Years a Slave," last year). There is his new ABC drama series, "American Crime," which isn’t exactly a ratings hit for the network (6 episodes into the season, viewership has dropped 50% from the season premiere), but has drawn much critical acclaim, and may serve as more of a prestige piece for ABC; there’s also the scripting he’s doing for MGM’s remake of the classic sword-and-sandals epic "Ben-Hur;" and Ridley recently inked an overall deal with ABC that will see the writer/director/producer develop new projects for the studio… like this one (in addition to "American Crime")…

Ridley is now said to be developing a new Marvel series for ABC, which is being described as a "reinvention" of an existing Marvel superhero character; although no word on who that character is. As of right now, it’s a mystery, so let the speculation begin.

Entertainment Weekly reports exclusively that details are being kept under wraps.

Assuming whatever this is gets a series, it will mark at least the 8th Marvel superhero television series that’s either already airing, or has been announced and is being developed, including "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," "Agent Carter," the Daredevil series on Netflix, as well as upcoming Netflix series based on Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

So who could Ridley be "reinventing" here? And what exactly might this "reinvention" mean exactly?
