nullOriginally scheduled to forgo a theatrical release and premiere on PBS on September 20, Jonathan Demme's post-Katrina documentary I'm Carolyn Parker: The Good, The Mad And The Beautiful, will actually now head to theaters first, before its TV debut.

The film will open at IFC Center in NYC, on September 12, for a limited run; Demme will reportedly participate in Q& A sessions after screenings on September 12 and 13.

Its PBS premiere on Thursday September 20, will still follow, as part of the network's long-running POV documentary series.

I'm Carolyn Parker: The Good, The Mad And The Beautiful chronicles community activist Carolyn Parker, who Demme met in 2005 in New Orleans, and followed over the years afterward, as she lead a crusade to rebuild her house, her church, her community, as well as her life and family.

After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, the film has toured the festival circuit (including stops in Venice, London and Amsterdam)
