Jonathan Majors is reported to be in negotiations to star opposite Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson in Creed III. The franchise’s third film will serve as the directorial debut for Jordan. Phylicia Rashad is also set to reprise her role from the previous films, but Sylvester Stallone will not.

Deadline first broke this news, and notes, “The deal isn’t quite done yet and they are working through the logistics of Majors’ busy dance card.”

Majors surely does have a busy schedule, as his profile has skyrocketed from becoming an indie darling to one of the most in-demand actors of the moment. He first garnered mainstream attention for the lead role of Tic in HBO’s Lovecraft Country, which followed his roles in several critically-acclaimed indies, including The Last Black Man in San Francisco. He followed Lovecraft Country up with a key role in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods.

Next up, he’s starring opposite Idris Elba, Regina King, Lakeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz in Netflix’s western film, The Harder They Fall. He’s also starring in J.G. Dillard’s Devotion. The most high-profile of his upcoming roles is his major debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror. He will first appear as the character in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
