Jonathan Majors, the breakout star of HBO’s Lovecraft Country, has landed a key role in the upcoming Marvel film, Ant Man 3. Deadline first reported the news of his casting. While Marvel didn’t have any comment, his character is believed to be the villain Kang the Conqueror. He would join Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as Ant-Man and The Wasp.

The report states, “Sources add that like with so many new characters in the MCU, there could be a twist with how the character is featured in future films, but as of now he is likely to be one of the main villains in the next installment in the franchise.”

The director of the first two films, Peyton Reed, is returning to direct. Jeff Loveness is writing the script.

Majors’ star is rising fast in Hollywood. He also starred in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods at Netflix and will also lead Netflix’s Black Western, The Harder They Fall. Most audiences were first introduced to him through his acclaimed performance in the A24 indie, The Last Black Man in San Francisco.
