On the heels of his performance in the multiple-Oscar nominated "Fences," Jovan Adepo has booked a starring role in Paramount Picture's and Bad Robot's behind enemy lines project, "Overlord."
Set during D-Day - the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II, on June 6, 1944 - Adepo will star in the film alongside Wyatt Russell, as American paratroopers dropped into enemy territory. As they approach their target - a Nazi-occupied village with a German radio tower - they realize that they are a part of something bigger than a simple military operation.
Julius Avery is directing from a script penned by Billy Ray ("Captain Phillips") and Mark L. Smith ("The Revenant").
J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will produce for Bad Robot.
Adepo was most recently seen in "Fences," appearing alongside star Denzel Washington (who also directed) and Viola Davis in an Oscar-winning performance. Adepo is also a series regular on HBO's "The Leftovers," which returns for its final season this spring.
Production on "Overlord" is set to begin in May in the U.K.
