World War II gets a supernatural twist in the trailer for J.J. Abrams-produced sci-fi action-drama Overlord.

Fences star Jovan Adepo headlines as Boyce, a reluctant soldier who’s heading toward the battle that would become D-Day. He and his fellow group of soldiers come to a strange house, a laboratory housing the bizarre experiments of the Nazis who plan on using their “thousand-year soldiers” in their “thousand-year army.”

For those who are among the squeamish, there’s tons of body horror in just the trailer; imagine the full film. But for horror fans who are down with a little Resident Evil-esque experimentation and wildness, Overlord might be up your alley. Also, as Entertainment Weekly points out, Abrams makes sure to overstate the fact that this film is not part of the amorphous Cloverfield franchise. Instead, he said to the outlet in April, “We are actually developing a true, dedicated Cloverfield sequel which will be coming to…theaters very soon.”

Overlord also stars Bokeem Woodbine, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, John Magaro, Iain De Caestecker, Mathide Ollivier and Hélène Cardona. Julius Avery directs, and the screenplay is co-written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and Billy Ray (The Last Tycoon, Captain Phillips), who also wrote the film’s story. Overlord will be in theaters October 28, just in time for Halloween.
