Universal Pictures is developing the horror-comedy Juju, which is based on an original pitch by Angelica Nwandu, the CEO and founder of The Shade Room.

Issa Rae and La La Anthony are producing while Nwandu is writing the script based on her original idea.

Deadline first broke the news. As the project is in its infancy, the plot is not known right now. Nwandu, a Sundance alum, co-wrote the 2018 Sundance-backed film, Night Comes On.

This would be the studio feature directorial debut for Banks, who has been attached to several different projects including Macro’s Young, Wild, Free, which was halted due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
