News surfaced last year that a sequel to the 2011 romantic comedy was in the works, and now it looks like it’s finally happening.

We’ve learned that Jumping The Broom 2 is moving forward from Our Stories Films and TD Jakes Productions.

Recall that the original pic starred Paula Patton and Laz Alonso as a couple looking to unite their very different families over a wedding weekend on Martha’s Vineyard.

This time around, the story is set in New York City, also with “two very different families” who come together for a wedding weekend.

Elizabeth Hunter, who penned the original movie, is attached as writer and producer, with Tracey Edmonds and TD Jakes producing and DeVon Franklin overseeing for Sony Pictures.

No word yet on whether Salim Akil will return to direct this film as he did the last. There’s also no word yet on cast, and based on the plot description, it’s uncertain whether any of the actors from the original film will be involved.

But for now, it seems the film is coming back in some form or another. So what say you? Are you looking forward to Jumping The Broom 2?
