The official logline of the would-be comedy series reads states that it is a “comedic satire exploring Gen-Z’s weaponization of political correctness told through the eyes of four high school girls.”
Palmer, Crawford and Aniobi will all co-write and executive produce the series.
Unfriendly Black Hotties is a co-production between HBO Max and Entertainment One. Palmer is under an overall deal at eOne and Aniobi has one at HBO and HBO Max. Lenoria Addison also executive produces with Big Boss Entertainment and SuperSpecial’s Aanch Khaneja.
Palmer recently garnered critical acclaim for her role in Jordan Peele’s Nope, winning Best Supporting Actress from the New York Film Critics Circle. Crawford, most known for his role in The Wire, was seen last year in HBO’s limited series, We Own This City. This would be his first TV writing credit.
Aniobi, most known for her work as a producer and later executive producer on Insecure, also was the showrunner and head writer for HBO’s 2 Dope Queens.
